Markhor was first described by Wagner in 1839. They are found in the arid and sloping regions of Central and West Asia. Their populations are limited to Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

- Breeding breed:
Markhors are polygynous and do not settle for just one female. To attract the female, the male fights his horn with the opposing male. Occurs where it mixes with different substances.
The gestation period in females is 135 to 170 days (four to five and a half months), and females give birth to one or two babies in spring or summer (May, June). And also protects them, and the babies stay with the mother for the next breeding season ie 6 months, sometimes these babies stay with the mother even longer.
The male does not take care of the children of these babies, females enter puberty at 18 to 36 months of age, while males reach adulthood at 36 months of age.
